The New Pinned Experience
Whether you are familiar with using the Power Dock or are new to Shortcut and learning the nuances of the tool, we've improved the user experience of the Pinned entities feature to help give you quicker access to the things that matter most.
By moving pinned items into the main navigation, they’re now more seamlessly integrated into your workflow, making them easier to find and faster to access. This change also ensures a more consistent and intuitive experience across the app.
What specifically has changed?
- Pinned items have been moved to the main navigation, just below the Teams section.
- Users can drag & reorder pinned items.
- Easily unpin an item by hovering over it in the navigation.
- To reduce busyness, users can collapse and expand the pinned section as needed.
- The pinned section only appears if you have at least one pinned item.
How to Pin
Using the 📌 icon on any Doc, Story, Epic, Iteration, or Objective, or the "Pin [Entity]" action in the right-click context menu, you'll be able to keep your most relevant items easily accessible so you don't have to open a bunch of tabs, and you can stay focused on the task at hand.
From any Doc, Story, Epic, Iteration, or Objective:
- Select the Pin 📌 icon in the top right of the Shortcut entity.
From the Stories, Epic, Iteration, or Objective page:
- Right-click to open the context menu and select the "Pin [Entity]" action.
- If applicable, select the "Pin [Entity]" action from the "more actions" ellipsis.
It is only possible to pin up to 20 items in the left sidebar.
Pinned Management
How to minimize and expand the Pinned view:
Click the downward caret (arrow) to the right of the Pinned title when hovering to collapse the list of pinned items to keep your view clean! Expand the Pinned list again by selecting the caret symbol again.
Reorder Pinned items:
Select and drag an entity card up or down to move its position in the list.
Unpinning a Pinned item:
Simply select the pin for the respective entity title in the list, or on the entity itself.
