Allow colour coding cards by project (again)

The September 22 update that changed the data model to make projects optional has created a pretty big annoyance for our team.  We're a single development team with a myriad of projects that we develop and maintain.  Now, instead of our collection of stories being colour coded by project, we see a sea (hah) of the same colour which is entirely useless to us.  The small project badge on story cards isn't a particularly useful substitute, at least not in contrast to a large band of exactly the same colour everywhere.

The colour coding of cards should ideally be selectable (team-based or project-based), or at least be allowed to be turned off entirely so we don't have to see a single colour everywhere, which entirely defeats the purpose.

This really seems like hiding proper colour coding behind a paywall, which is pretty ridiculous.

    Agreed.

Our company has multiple teams collaborating on multiple projects and our board has become impossible to read. Adding the ability to sort colour by team was a good idea but forcing everyone onto this view with no way to revert and with no heads up was a terrible way to implement this.

We're now stuck waiting to see if Shortcut will address this issue or waste time figuring out a new way to manage our projects.

I cannot echo this loudly enough. We're a single team and manages lots of projects and the new color updates make the story view significantly less useful for us. Please give us the option to choose how to color the story cards.

This change made the ability to scan the board and see which projects were inflight was extremely useful. Now, I just feel lost looking at the board. Sorting by the team is helpful, but you already have the team image on the card do we need the team color, too?

We only have a few teams, but many projects. We all really liked the color strip on the side of the story card. It was more visible from the "zoomed out" perspective of the kanban board.

Our infra work is purple, cli red, frontend yellowish. It was nice to see the flavor of our sprint reflected in an overall color density: infra flavored, frontend-focused, etc.

Ditto this.  We have one small team and do all our organizing by project.  We 100% need project color coding, and 0% need team project coding.  I would way rather have the bar color be for the Project and the little tag at the bottom of the card be for the team.

In fact ... I've been around Clubhouse/Shortcut long enough to remember when the WHOLE CARD was colorized by Projects.  I suppose it's a losing battle to +1 my year-old request to bring THAT back?

Just chiming in here as we also prefer colour coding on projects. We have one team per board so seeing the same colour everywhere is pretty useless, while having different colours for different projects was great for visibility.

We were using "projects" in our main workflow to track Priority, using grayscale colors to see at a glance which stories were more important (black = top priority, light gray = low priority, etc.). Now they're all gray and it's hard to tell from the stories view or the epics view.

Please give option to set how we'd like to colour code stories - either by project or by team.

Similar to others, we use projects in place of priorities, Highest, High, Standard, Low, Lowest. The color coordination made it possible to see the highest priority at a glance, it'd be great to have the option to decide what the tab color represents (or a priority system so we don't need to use projects)

Please as everyone else, it would be great if we can have the option to at least choose between the team colors or project colors to mark the stories cards!
